Winter & Valentine’s Day Themed Toddler Books
I recently purchased some new books to add to our collection. We already had some winter books, but we were seriously lacking in Valentine’s Day books. These are some of the books that we have recently been enjoying.

This is a great range a books for learning about weather, animals, seasons, clothes, winter activities, and more.
Winter is a brightly illustrated book that explores the fun of winter both inside and outside.
Biscuit’s Snowy Day notes the fun activities to do in the winter from the perspective of a cute and curious little puppy.
A Winter Walk in the City is a beautifully diverse book that explores different holidays in the winter.
Ten on the Sled is a fun book to sing through that allows children to see winter animals that they may not have come across yet in other books.
The Itsy Bitsy Snowman is another great book to sing. We basically have it memorized and love adding silly motions. This is a must-have if you enjoyed The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin from my last book list. They have books for many different holidays so you may want to look into The Itsy Bitsy Sweetheart, but I have not read it yet.
We love the Little Owl books so I was so excited when I discovered Little Owl’s Snow! The books can be a little wordier than Elani prefers so sometimes we focus more on what we see in the illustrations, rather than reading everything. I highly recommend all of the Little Owl books!
The Mitten is a classic. I actually had this book in my classroom, but I was sure to bring it home with me even though I donated most of my books to the school. I couldn’t let go of this one! Check out this site for great printables to go along with the cute story of forest animals and a lost mitten.
Another classic is The Snowy Day. These last two books are preschool staples when it comes to winter books. This book explores the wonders of that first snow for a little kid. I think it has the perfect amount and choice of words to keep little ones interested.
Though some of these books are meant specifically for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to make sure to include some books about love, in general.
How Many Do I Love You is a silly counting book with tons of alliteration. Some of the pages are almost tongue twisters! It’s a cute one!
My Baby Loves Valentine’s Day is the first of the My Baby Loves… books that I have purchased, but now I want the Christmas and Halloween books. It’s super simple, but I appreciate that for some of our books.
The Valentine is Missing was a must-have for us because Elani loved the Christmas version of this book. Now that we have this one, she requests it almost every night. The cut-outs and colors make this book a lot of fun. I also appreciate the diversity I’ve seen in both books.
I had never heard of The Biggest Kiss, but I’m glad I found it. Who doesn’t love animal kisses? Now that I’ve found this book, I will definitely be purchasing The Perfect Hug!
You’re My Little Hunny Bunny was already a favorite of ours so I jumped at the chance to grab You’re My Little Cuddle Bug in time for Valentine’s Day. I don’t have it yet, but I know that we will love it! We quickly memorize the pages in these books because the rhymes are so enjoyable. They have many more that we already own and a few more that I plan to purchase!
We have had I Love You Little One for a few years now. We love touch-and-feel books! This book has a variety of different textures, which I appreciate.
I Love You More and More holds a special place in my heart because it’s the book that I used when I told my husband I was expecting for the first time. The sentences are simple and the illustrations are gorgeous.
Little One, God Loves You is a sweet, rhyming book about being loved and loving others. It is short and perfect for any time of the year.
I enjoy the One Love is a musical book, but that it is not set to a traditional children’s nursery rhyme. I have not yet purchased Every Little Thing, but now I definitely want to!
My students loved the Pete the Cat books so I decided to give I Love Pete the Kitty a try. Honestly, I thought it was just okay, but my daughter absolutely loves this book. Pete definitely has a special hold on young children!
We do have a few more winter and love-themed books tucked away in different places, but I posted these specifically because they are the ones that we have been enjoying the most. I hope that you are able to add some of these to your family’s collection. Feel free to share any other great ones that you know of in the comments!
