Orange Picking in Florida

Does picking your own fruit sound fun? I love a good u-pick excursion! We’ve picked apples, wildflowers, oranges, and peonies. This was our second time at Schacht Groves to pick oranges.

The first time, Emi was only two months old. It is hard to believe that she is two now. Such a different experience. If you’re not following me on Instagram, here is the video that I made from our day out.

According to the Schacht Groves calendar, we were there at the beginning of the season for u-pick. The bingo oranges were clearly the fan favorite because they were already mostly wiped out. We still ended up with the perfect amount of oranges and I love the adorable little baskets that they hand out for picking.

The biggest difficulty that we had this year was avoiding anthills. We did not experience that as much during our first trip, most likely due to the cooler weather. Despite that, the grove is beautiful and so tranquil.

They had added a quaint patio area and a flower shed that I had not seen before. It was such a lovely atmosphere and a great place to sit and enjoy our oranges. The girls also enjoyed the most delicious popsicles from inside the store. The store is not just a much-needed reprieve from the heat; it has an abundance of fresh foods and beverages to choose from.

And I cannot forget to mention the slingshot. They have baskets of produce that you can launch into the bordering water. The girls loved this part, and Evan also enjoyed it. Schacht Groves is a fun place for the whole family and, if we continue to visit Vero Beach, it will definitely be a spot that we stop at each time. If you are ever in the area, it is worth a visit, but make sure to check out farms, groves, and orchards in your area!
