First Impression: Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller
With baby number two on the way, we realized that a double stroller would be best for our family. I narrowed it down to three strollers after looking into a bunch of different ones. For months, I was between the Evenflo Pivot Xpand, Joovy Caboose S Too, and Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller. I watched videos, read reviews, looked through specifications, and compared pricing. I wanted a stroller that had the option of being a single stroller or a double stroller. That is why I was choosing between those three specific strollers. In the end, the Mockingbird Sing-to-Double Stroller won me over, but that does not mean that it is perfect. I recently received it and want to give you my first impression. So far, I really love it!
UPDATE: Mockingbird has replaced the carriage with a bassinet that is safe for sleep. All links for the carriage have been updated to reflect this change.

What’s Included?
Considering how much I was able to get and the quality of the stroller, I was very happy with Mockingbird’s pricing. Alone, the single-to-double stroller is $395. Now, that does not include a second seat. That is the price for the single stroller that has the ability to become a double stroller. We purchased the second seat as well, but I will talk about that later. For $395, I got the stroller frame, one seat, a sunshade, a wet bag, and a stroller bag (which I love for traveling). I opted for the canopy in the color bloom, the watercolor drops pattern, and the silver and penny leather frame.
Easy Assembly
The frame was extremely easy to assemble. At 34 weeks pregnant, I had no issue putting everything together on my own. I immediately fell in love with the large storage basket at the bottom. There is a side pocket within it that you can securely stash small items.
The seat snaps in with ease and removing it is just as easy. I like that you do not have to squeeze both of the side buttons at the same time to remove it. You can push one button, push the other button, and then remove the seat. This means that you can get the seat in or out with just one free hand. The handle in the front of the seat can also be removed on just one side to allow your child to easily get in and out. They do not currently have a snack tray, but Mockingbird stated that there should be one available this fall. I definitely plan to purchase it. I really appreciate the attention to detail and adjustments that this stroller has. The seat reclines all the way back and the area for your child’s feet is also adjustable. The handle position is also adjustable, which is great because I’m only 5’ and my husband is 5’10” so we can both still be comfortable when pushing the stroller.
Second Seat Kit
As I said earlier, we purchased the second seat kit. I do not plan to use the second seat for a while, but the kit allows me to use the double stroller option with the Mockingbird Carriage. I also purchased the car seat adapter so that I can also use our Graco car seat.
Setting up the stroller to use two seats was also very easy. There are adapters that go into the top and then the second set of adapters that connect to the bottom.
Once these are in, you can attach both seats, a seat and a car seat, or a seat and the carriage. If you want to see the different configurations, use this link. They also have confirmed that they will be adding ways to hold more than two children.
Mockingbird Carriage
I went back and forth between getting the infant insert for the regular seat or purchasing the carriage. I know that a car seat is not the safest place for a baby to sleep so I wanted to have a place where baby girl could sleep flat on her back while in the stroller. Since the regular seats recline, I considered just purchasing the infant seat insert. The pros to the infant insert are that it is the more affordable option and it allows you to still use multiple configurations with your double stroller. I really liked the look of the carriage though. It still has a zipper cover (in addition to the canopy) and looked like an easy space for diaper changes as well. Though the carriage limits the configurations (the second seat must be rear-facing when using the carriage), I decided that I liked the carriage the most.
And, now that Mockingbird has replaced the carriage with a bassinet that is safe for sleep, it is an even better option!
As a single, the carriage attaches very easily. Though I will not be able to fold the stroller with the carriage, it is so simple to click in and out that I don’t feel that will be an issue. If you are looking for a slightly faster option though, the infant insert may be the way to go. The carriage also comes with a sunshade so it can be fully covered just like any of the other seats.
Final Thoughts
There are so many wonderful things about this stroller! Here are some of the cons. As a double, I will either be using the car seat adapter or the carriage. To use either of those on the top, the second seat must be rear-facing. To fold the stroller, the seat must be forward-facing. See the dilemma? That means that I will have to completely remove all of the seats I am using to fold the stroller and put them back on each time that I unfold it and am ready to use it. Now, this will no longer be an inconvenience once I’m using the two regular seats. Baby girl will eventually outgrow the carriage (and her infant seat) so I figure this is only an “issue” for a small amount of time. For me, it wasn’t enough the sway my decision and I am still extremely happy with my choice.
My daughter loves this stroller and I am excited to update you all on my thoughts once baby girl arrives and I am able to use it as a double stroller. Refer to the video at the top for a detailed walkthrough of the different parts of the stroller as well as the many features and inclusions. With all of the additional accessories that I purchased, my stroller came to a little over $600. There was a discount for purchasing the second seat kit at the same time as the stroller. That’s a decent amount of money for a stroller, but compared to other strollers that are similar, I think it is a great price and I am extremely pleased with this purchase.
