Review: Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller (UPDATE)
When I first unboxed my Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller, I fell in love. I wrote all about it in this post and even made the video below of the process.
At this point, I have had the stroller for 4 months. I have a detailed video at the bottom of this post with an update on my thoughts, but here are a few of my thoughts and some pictures as well. Again, this is an update, so check my previous post if you want even more details about the different parts of the stroller and what it comes with.

I was using the Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller as just a single stroller for the first month that I had it because I only had my two-year-old at that time. It easily fit into my little Nissan Sentra and was still easy for me to transfer in and out of my car at 9 months pregnant. As a single stroller, it is an absolute dream and I would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Now that I have had time to use it more as a double stroller, I still think it is wonderful, but there are also some things that are important to consider. I will keep this brief because I have a full video at the bottom of this post that explains everything with video examples.

The biggest issue that most people will have to consider is something that I mentioned in my unboxing of the stroller. The toddler seat must be rear-facing when using it as a double stroller with the carriage. This is because the carriage does not allow enough space in between for the seat a the bottom to be forward-facing. This is the case if you are fully reclining the top seat to use the infant insert as well. Now, I saw a picture of someone who put their toddler at the top forward-facing and had their baby reclined on the bottom with the infant insert. This led to the toddler having to rest his feet on the bottom seat that the baby was in. This could work for some, but it would be very tough if your toddler is one to kick.
I did not try to use a work-around for this. Elani is rear-facing and she is doing great, even though she had been previously forward-facing in other strollers. She cannot see directly in front of her with the bassinet in the way unless the bassinet cover is unzipped or down. She is still able to see on either side of her and she loves riding in the stroller. You know your toddler best, so it is something to consider when purchasing this stroller. Luckily, you can try to stroller for 30 days and see if it works for your family.
I was so excited when Mockingbird announced that they would be offering a snack tray in the fall of 2020. I waited patiently for it to be released and pre-ordered the snack tray as soon as it was available. Unfortunately, I rarely use the snack tray for my toddler because it does not fit on the seat if you are also using the bassinet. Since the toddler seat must be turned rear-facing when using the bassinet, there is not enough space between the two seats to attach the tray. It does fit if I use my car seat instead of the bassinet, but I rarely use my car seat with the stroller. I know that it will get good use in the future, but I am bummed that I can’t use it now.
Here are a few pictures of the car seat in use. Since I do not use it often, I do not think that I have posted pictures or videos of the car seat attached.
One small thing that I do not love is that the brake pedal on the bottom of the stroller is white. This is such a minor thing, but it does end up getting really dirty since shoes are constantly touching it.
This is something that may be specific to my bassinet, but I feel that it is worth mentioning in case it is not. The zipper that allows you to remove the bassinet padding and the zipper for the bassinet cover line up in a way that causes them to catch on one another. This makes it a little more difficult when I am unzipping the cover.
Using this stroller takes some getting used to. I would say that is the case with any double stroller, though. It is heavier to push and you have to get used to the way that it takes up space. With that said, I was pushing it with both of my girls not long after I returned from the hospital after my cesarean. It really has great maneuverability. See the video below for more on maneuverability. With that said, it is not great off of a paved surface. We had a lot of difficulties trying to use it on a rocky path while we were in Florida. The wheels are just not meant for that.
I am very pleased with my purchase of the Mockingbird Single-to-Double Stroller. I truly believe that very few people would be disappointed in this stroller. It’s beautiful, it handles well, and it is very affordable for everything that you get. This is a quality stroller and I would still recommend checking it out if anyone asked me about it.
UPDATE: Mockingbird has recently come out with a riding board! I have purchased it and will provide an updated review now that I am using the stroller with two toddlers, rather than a toddler and a baby. Make sure you’re subscribed to my mailing list so you do not miss my stroller update!
