Choosing A Newborn Swaddle
Let’s be real, swaddling is an art. There are people who can swaddle a baby so tightly and beautifully. When I had my first, the only thing that I knew about was swaddle blankets. Even with my previous experience working at a preschool and as a nanny, I only knew of blankets for swaddling. I spent the first few months only using swaddle blankets with my daughter and got pretty good at swaddling. When I discovered different wraps that I could use though, I found that they worked better for my family. They also alleviated my anxiety around the possibility of the blanket becoming loose during the night. There are so many swaddles on the market and I definitely have not tried them all, but I wanted to provide information and feedback on the ones that I have used.

Though I have not used them, I have heard great things about the Halo Sleepsack and The Ollie Swaddle. I like that the Halo Sleepsack can transition to arms out, but it seems unnecessary to buy it in the newborn size for that reason. My daughter would outgrow it before she’d be ready to sleep with her arms out. Most people prefer to keep their newborn’s arms swaddled up or down because of their Moro reflex (startle reflex). The Ollie Swaddle sells out quickly so I have not gotten my hands on it yet. I love that it grows with your baby so that you don’t have to keep buying the next size up!
These are great options for swaddles for different reasons, but I would to hear from you. What swaddle do you love?!
